Welcome to my new blog site, I hope you find it interesting and useful.
I want these blogs to be realistic, not some fantastical lifestyle people think those of us travel have. Unlike the celebs we don't travel all the time, usually only during school holidays and if we are lucky maybe a quick weekender somewhere close. Through these blogs I want to show the challenges as well as the fun and everything in between and I hope it encourages more people to set out on adventures. Its not always as glamourous as it sounds.
So travelling with kids and a big van, neither of those are necessarily an easy task, and both have their good and bad points.
Kids, well we all know the difficulties associated with that, what to take, behaviour, medical issues, boredom and all the rest, but obviously it is also a lot of fun watching them explore, create memories, challenge themselves and often they allow us to experience things we might not have otherwise.
Towing a big van has its challenges too, managing the weight of the van with all the extras kids want to take, towing capacity of the car you have, road accessibility and depending on where you go not every place can accommodate the size of the van. Most caravan parks will not be a problem although some have limited number of large sites, but with free camping sites you need to know first because turning around can be a problem. The benefits far outweigh these issues though, our van is a triple bunker with all the creature comfits like plenty of storage, separate toilet and shower, microwave, washing machine and full size fridge and freezer. It is our home away from home.
Along the way I'm going to touch on many of the above challenges, experiences and lots of fun and fill you in on some of the great places to stay in our beautiful state, so stay tuned and I hope you enjoy following our adventures and get some useful information for your own travel. Thanks for reading.
